About My Story
Lifestyle Photography
“Lifestyle”
The term "Lifestyle" is a term that is quite often used by people to describe our photography work.
However, what is important is how those of you who view it feel when you see it not the word itself. Does it present a visual representation of a life style?
However, as humans we like to label things and use descriptors, so "Lifestyle" it is.
What is “Lifestyle” photography?
Lifestyle photography sits comfortably between traditional portraiture, which is posed and controlled, and documentary photography which isn't posed or controlled at all.
Lifestyle photography is a more emotional, expressive and personal approach to photography, really allowing you to create your own rules and express yourself creatively.
Lifestyle photography typically captures the essence of the humans you are photographing, capturing a little piece of humanity, emotion and expression. It often includes the subjects touching, movements, emotions, loving gestures, and often environmental storytelling. While I will sometimes capture your family looking at the camera, many of our photos will not have you or your family looking directly at the camera but instead being involved in the moment with each other.
Lifestyle photography means that you are going beyond posed, stiff and unemotional portraiture to capture the true essence of the personality behind the humans you are capturing in the moment and in the setting.
